The Santa Monica History Museum is excited to announce it will host a Discover The History and book signing event on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Santa Monica History Museum at 1350 7th St., Santa Monica.

On Saturday, the public is invited to a free conversation and book signing event with Michael Murphy, Jens Lucking and Stephen Anaya at the Santa Monica History Museum. The trio collaborated on, “Santa Monica Pleasure Pier: A Look Back to 1917 From Today,” the award-winning book that inspired the Museum’s current exhibition. Learn how they transformed Charles Looff’s original photographs, plans, and drawings into a visual exploration of the Santa Monica Pier as it appeared in 1917 and today.

The speakers are as follows:

Michael Murphy (author), is a former agency creative gone independent design professional. Last year he and his photographic partner Jens Lucking created a book and exhibition about Santa Monica in 1902. He is currently focusing his efforts launching LookBackArt.com.

Stephen Anaya (collector), is a native Angelino, a long time Ocean Park resident, and an avid collector of Santa Monica visual history. “I am proud to share this unique 1917 prospectus of the Pier and help create this historical art book and exhibition.”

Jens Lucking (photographer), turned his passion into his profession in 1992, winning a string of awards since. Most recently, Jens was awarded at the International Photography Awards at Carnegie Hall in NYC for his latest project with Michael Murphy, Santa Monica Pleasure Pier – A Look Back to 1917 from Today.
