The Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce and the Santa Monica Commission on the Status of Women will present the 2019 Santa Monica Organization of Women Leaders (OWL) International Women’s Day Breakfast to kick off Women’s History Month, at 7:30 a.m., March 11, at Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows, 101 Wilshire Blvd, Santa Monica.

This year’s honorees, called “OWLies,” include Presidential Candidate, Spiritual Teacher, Global Lecturer, Activist, and Best-selling Author Marianne Williamson, along with Mentor and Community Advocate, Apple Music’s Julie Pilat.

Echoing the call among women to spend 2019 rising to equality, justice and power, the annual breakfast champions groundbreaking women leaders and their achievements in business and society from around the nation. Williamson and Pilat join the company of past award-winning recipients including actress Jennifer Garner, CALIFORNIALIST founder Bettina Duval, documentary director Amy Ziering and Assistant City Manager Elaine Polachek, among others.

Laurel Rosen notes, “The Santa Monica Chamber is thrilled to honor Marianne Williamson and Julie Pilat as the 2019 Outstanding Women Leaders (OWLies).

Each year the business community joins together to support this meaningful breakfast. Women understand the need to convene and celebrate International Women’s Day and the women being honored that make a difference to so many.”

Williamson adds, “Now that women have the full right to express ourselves, our next step is to give ourselves the emotional and psychological permission to say what is most truly in our hearts to say. The question most pressing now is not how to get power; the question most pressing now is what to do with the power we have. My hope is that all of us use our power on behalf of those who have none at all. I am honored to be this year’s OWLie Honoree at the International Women’s Day Breakfast, and I look forward to being with everyone.”

The annual event is hosted by OWL, a Santa Monica Chamber Committee celebrating and inspiring women to join and develop personally and build success for their business through networking and partnerships, enhancing the wellbeing of each other and the community. For more information,
